Shoulder Conditions We Treat
Shoulder Impingement
Shoulder impingement occurs when bone spurs rub on the rotator cuff. When the arm is in the overhead position, this narrows the space available for the rotator cuff and can cause pain.
Shoulder Instability
Shoulder instability is very common, with the shoulder being the most commonly dislocated joint in the human body.
Rotator Cuff
The rotator cuff is an extremely important set of muscles in the shoulder. The rotator cuff is composed of four tendons that blend together into one cuff.
Shoulder Arthritis
Non-operative treatment of shoulder arthritis consists of activity modification, anti-inflammatory medications, and steroid injections.
AC Joint Problems
The AC joint is the acromioclavicular joint. It is the joint where the collarbone (clavicle) connects to the shoulder blade (scapula).
Labral Tears
The labrum is a ring of specialized cartilage resting on the outer edge of the socket of the shoulder joint. The labrum serves to deepen the shoulder socket and make it more concave.
Biceps Tendon Disorders
The biceps is located in the front of the upper arm. It’s main function is to bend the elbow and rotate the arm (supination).
Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder is a general term used to describe all causes of motion loss in the shoulder. The most common cause of loss of motion is a condition known as adhesive capsulitis.
Bicep Tears
Two main causes exist. A traumatic injury can result in a partial or complete tear of the biceps. Falling on an outstretched arm or heavy lifting are the common mechanisms.
