Your Visit

Out of Town Patients

Dr. Koo sees many patients who travel from out of town for their surgical needs. Seattle is the home to many world-class companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Costco. The Seattle area is a high-tech medical community and it is a great place to give and receive medical care.

Our practice is well equipped to welcome new patients. We can see patients from the state of Washington, the United States, Canada, and all other foreign countries. We are able to craft financial solutions for most patients so that care is feasible on a cash basis. We also work with most major insurance plans. We do accept out of network insurance plans but out of network patients may have a higher cost associated with their care depending on their specific coverage.

Preparation for Your Appointment

If you are a patient traveling from out of state or out of the country, please feel free to contact us first to see if we are a good fit for your medical needs. You can send us your medical information such as x-rays or any other imaging ahead of time for review to determine if you should make the trip to see Dr. Koo. Please send this information to:

ProOrtho Attn: Gema Mancilla

12911 120th Ave NE Ste H-210

Kirkland, WA 98034

Please include your contact information such as phone number and email address. Once your images have been reviewed, we will contact you regarding scheduling. There will be the first appointment at our office in Kirkland in advance of surgery. We can often perform your surgery within days of the first appointment to avoid multiple trips.

After Your Surgery

Once you have your surgery date, you will need to be seen for a first post-operative appointment. If you are traveling by plane, we can typically see you for this appointment 1-2 days after surgery, and then you are able to fly home. If you are traveling by car you are able to go home immediately following surgery and we will see you 7-10 days later for your first post-operative visit. Scheduling future post-operative visits after the initial one will be determined based upon your travel needs.

Care Giver Support

You will need someone to travel with you for the day of your surgery. You will be given general anesthesia for your surgery so you will not be able to drive a car and someone will need to assume responsibility for you. They will need to accompany you to the location that you will be having your surgery and be there when it is over to take you back to where you are staying.
